answer: soda machine!

Kinja'd!!!

yup, i was in my local Pavilions supermarket (aka: Vons... and Safeway?) and saw this by the deli counter/in-store Panda Express counter. this machine was installed recently.

yes, these have apparently been out a while but i had never seen a Pininfarina emblem on anything other than a 4-wheeled Italian sports-car.

boom. winner. you get a free 16-ounce fountain drink - just visit your local Pininfarina soda machine and tell them i said it's okay.

hah! hadn't seen that before. at first glance i thought it was a video game stand. then i realize you could hack that monitor to display your video game of choice. how rad would it be to pedal/sweat your way through Gran Turismo or Forza...

I think you'd have to pedal pretty hard. Haha! I slay me.

But seriously, Pininfarina has actually done quite a bit of non-automotive design. As a "Design House" they've got to be able to put their brand on as much shit as possible which is why they've designed Coffee and Espresso machines, now vending machines, and will take on any project a suitable manufacturer has in mind.

I read about these a few years ago and then lo and behold, found one near me last year. They're absolutely cool.

I saw lots of those when I was there. I was wondering what they were. The design is average at best, but the build quality looked awful! They appear to have been knocked up in someone's garage.

I have this one:

I would like to imagine SimpleTech paying an exorbitant amount of cash to have one of Pininfarina's junior designers put a couple scallops and a label on a box.
